The new features include:

Create new documents and parts
A new menu button is available for showing a template dialog. The dialog is filled from XML template definitions.
The 'Empty document' template for WML also contains an inner template for the main document part. These document part templates can be added to an existing document as well.

Package Explorer Home Page
After quite some development effort to convert the core into accepting new documents and parts the new beta of Package Explorer 3.0 is out. Most of the features of the 2.3.0 version have been translated, some buttons are missing but will follow later on.

The new features include:

Create new documents and parts
A new menu button is available for showing a template dialog. The dialog is filled from XML template definitions.
The 'Empty document' template for WML also contains an inner template for the main document part. These document part templates can be added to an existing document as well.

Package Explorer Home Page
Up to version 2.3.0. Definately working towards Packaging Editor. The new feature revolves around the XML editing experience. You now have XML syntax highlighting and XML folding in the editor.

Overview of the features:

Edit XML parts in an XML aware editor

The second version of the Package Explorer utility is out. Perhaps the correct term is Package Editor, with editing capablities for XML parts as the main new feature. Moving to Open XML Swissknife! Besides the ability to edit XML parts, validation of your package with the ECMA schemas is a big addition. Find the complete list of features below, or visit the Releases page to download source, binaries or an installer.

Package Explorer Home Page
The Package Explorer utility provides the ability to open an Open XML package and browse through the relationships and parts. It supports navigation of embedded sub-packages and uses an object model that provides a clean separation between the UI and the packaging model.

You can use this utility to learn about Open XML, by browsing through documents to see their logical structure. It is provided with full source code, so you can also use it as a starting point for other types of Open XML projects.

Future releases of this project will possibly include the ability to create and edit packages, direct support for various types of packages (a WordPackage for instance) and corresponding actions such as ‘Clean Word Document’. A new WPF front-end is also being considered. If you have ideas for how to enhance or extend this utility, please participate in this project.
